The Jefferson Celebrates Julia Child’s Birthday

In honor of Julia Child’s 101st birthday The Jefferson Washington DC  is offering a special tasting menu that celebrates the woman and her iconic cooking. From August 6th to the 17th Plume Restaurant is stirring up the menu with selections from Mastering the Art of French Cooking, The Way to Cook, The French Chef Cookbook and Julia and Jacques Cooking.

The tasting menu starts with an Amuse Bouche  of Chilled Leek and Potato Soup, Julia’s Stuffed Heirloom Tomato Provencal and a Pate de Campagne. For the main course choose between a Fillet of Dover Sole Meuniere or Boeuf Bourguignon and finish the meal with the classic french Crepes Suzette and cheese platter.

These selections chosen and prepared by The Plume’s Executive Chef Jakubiec are sure to represent his experience in French cooking from The French Culinary Institute of New York City and under world class New York Chefs.

We suggest that you take the day to explore Julia Child’s Kitchen at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History. This exhibit contains every item in Julia’s Kitchen the way it was left in her California home when she died. It also explored the history of food in America and shows footage of Julia in action on her cooking show Baking with Julia.
